Spring Cleaning Do’s and Don’ts

Hello!

Spring is the start of the real estate selling season. It’s also a great time for a deep house cleaning. And, while you may know the basics — vacuum, dust, wash windows, etc., — here are some spring cleaning hacks to protect your investment, whether you’re a buyer or a seller:

1. Reduce soap scum — Apply a rain repellent product made for car windshields to glass shower doors.

2. Blast your dryer vents clear — Lint buildup in your dryer vent can increase dust in your home, damage your machine, and cause a fire hazard. You can use an electric leaf blower to blast out debris

3. Brighten faucets — If your stainless-steel faucets are looking dull, grab half of a lemon and scrub away.

4. Remove embedded pet hair — Do you have pet hair in your rug that you cannot remove with a vacuum? Try dragging a window squeegee across the area. The rubber “blade” should grab and roll the hair into a ball for easy removal.

5. Clean lampshades — Remove dust and brighten lampshades by using a lint roller.

6. De-gunk window tracks — Use Q-Tips to get rid of grime and dirt in your window or sliding door tracks.

Plus, you can make your own cleaning kit to keep on hand — with pre-moistened wipes, paper towels, baking soda — whatever you use to tackle everyday messes.
